Since the time of the New Testament,Christians have been working out the relationship between unchanging Gospel and current culture. Too often we have been caught in culture to the point of losing the sight of the Gospel. As Christians we should consider carefully our response to the latest information about Meghan Markle. The situation with Meghan provides an opportunity to speak of standards of Christ vs. the world.
"Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them." Ephesians 5:11
Around 1.9 billion people watched the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle around the world. A few years ago, the Dutchess of Sussex had the support of many people across the globe. However, within past couple of years the whole world seemingly turned against her. Meghan choose the way of resentment, powerand self.
After their inteview with Oprah Winfrey, which 28 million people watched while it has aired, divided people into two groups. The first group sees brave woman, who is willing to fight for her marriage, children and mental health. Meghan was fighting against prejudice and opposition from the monarchy; a courageous trailblazer making a new way forward for royalty. The second group saw Meghan as a vindictive outsider who didn't get her way; an opportunist who was capitiling on her husband's status and fortune. After the interview, more and more people began to villify Meghan Markle.
However, her biggest downfall became worse after Netflix documentary and Harry's released his book: Spare. In this book Harry debunked some of the accounts from the Oprah's interview. More and more information started to come out regarding Meghan Markle. Turns out that they have different stories about their first meeting, she mistreated royal staff, she constantly lied about many things. Many more negative details that came out turned out that Meghan Markle was the culprit.
In the past few months more and more information became available about Meghan. I will not go into details. The purpose of this post is not to condemn Meghan Markle but to show how we should response as Christians. You can find plenty of horrible things about Meghan Markle on the internet. Current cancel culture cancelled Meghan Markle. But God didn't cancel her.
Christian Response
As Christians we are called to practice discernment. What God says about the issues remains the same yesterday, today and forever. We need to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Aspire to be redemptive rather then reactive. The Lord is in the business of redeeming things. Last but not least, we need to pray for Meghan Markle. She is not beyond redemption or beyond divine salvation. We as believers need to see Meghan as someone who needs to be saved from her sinful nature. Bible warns us also about slandering others and gossiping. We shouldn't engage into this type of behavior. However, we also need to call out the evil when we see it.. I pray for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

In Japan we have also royal family.Several years ago engagement of one lady member of the family became very big scandale.Because mother of her fiance had many troubles.(The mother is a single one who lost her husband by suicide.)and the fact became well known by media.
ReplyDeleteMany people were against the marriage, but the princess decided not to give up.She married and moved to NY city in 2021.
As a christian I think that we do not need to have too much interest in any kind of scandales in this world. We just need to prepare for people who ask our opinion. What you wrote in this article is so true and we need to pray for people knowing that God never cancel them.
